With the countless number of Mountain View, ecstatic turquoise lake and general high altitude scenes, it is one of the famous trekking locations of Nepal. This trek will take you to Gokyo Ri which is over 17000 feet above the Himalaya. From Gokyo Ri, you will witness one of the rare sights of Mount Everest. With the altitude at 5357 meters, there is no shame to look straight at the tallest mountain of the World. The summit of Gokyo Ri will also give you stunning perspective on another group of largest mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gyachung Kang. Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu
After arrival in the Kathmandu, you’ll be attended by our representative and will be transferred to the confirmed accommodation for overnight. After check-in, you will get the detail information about the trek. In the evening you can either rest in the hotel or visit one of the lively nightclubs in the Kathmandu
Day 2: Explore Kathmandu
We will visit most of the famous cultural and historical site of the Kathmandu. Many of these landmarks are also declared as a World Heritage site. We will visit the historical places like Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, Narayanhity Palace, Pashupatinath temple, Swoyambhu and many more. You can also visit the market to have the necessary supply for the journey. In the evening, you can rest in the hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Lukla from Kathmandu and Trek to Phakding
After breakfast, we get you to transfer to the domestic airport to fly to Lukla. An adventurous scenic flight above some of the beautiful terrain will lead you to Lukla also known as the gateway to the Everest. After arriving at the Tenzing-Hillary airport, you’ll meet another crew member. After getting acquaintance with the crew, we will start our journey from the Lukla. We will start our trek to reach Phakding. To get you accustomed to the altitude, the journey will be a short hike today. So, we will have plenty of time to visit the nearby monastery. The accommodation is arranged at a Guesthouse in Phakding.
Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Trek will start in the morning after breakfast. We will start our journey to the few short ascension to the hill. We will move downward to the Dudh Koshi river. While crossing Dudh Koshi river, we can have a magnificent view of Mt Thamserku from the Benkar village. After the short hike, we will reach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. Then, we will descend to the Jorsale village. The walk is quite enjoyable through the river bed and Hillary suspension bridge. Then, we will climb uphill toward Namche Bazaar where you can view the magnificent sight of Mountain Everest, Lhotse, Tawache and many more high mountains. Finally, we will reach the village of Namche Bazaar where we will stay overnight.
Day 5: Explore Namche Bazaar
Since we are ascending the high from the sea level, this day is scheduled for acclimatization. Instead of sitting idle, we will explore through the lively village of Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest region so, you will get plenty of opportunities to get the supply for the rest of the trip. You can explore the colorful market of the Namche Bazaar. We will walk to Thami above ecstatic Bhote Koshi river valley. We can also visit the Sagarmatha National Park to view the diverse flora and faunas of the high altitude. We will stay overnight in the lodge.
Day 6: Hiking to Dole
After resting a day in Namche Bazaar, we will go hiking to the Dole. Our path will move downhill and then we will climb to pass via the Mon La pass. After reaching Phortse Tenga, we will pass through rhododendron and birch forest. Moving further from Phortse Tenga, we will reach at Dole. We stay at night in the Dole.
Day 7: Hike up to Machherma
We will leave early morning from Dole. We will hike to reach Machherma lying at the height of 4470m. You will notice a stunning valley with Oakwoods and rhododendrons. On this day, we will walk for 4 hours and stay overnight at Machherma.
Day 8: Explore Machhermo
We will rest in Macchermo to get you to accustom to the high altitude atmosphere. We can walk around Machherma at the height of 4470m. We can enjoy the company of the local Sherpa to understand culture and tales. We will stay overnight at the Tea house.
Day 9: Hiking up to Gokyo
This is one of the most exciting days of the trip. This day we will be hiking to Gokyo. In addition, we will cross through Gokyo Ri lying at the elevation of 4570m. You will have an amazing view of the highest mountain nestle together. Beside Gokyo Ri, we will pass through the largest glacier of the Nepal – Ngozumpa Glacier. We will also witness the emerald greenish-blue Gokyo lake. We will pass through the number of magnificent lakes. At the east, we will reach the settlement of Gokyo. We will stay overnight at teahouse.
Day 10: Hiking up to Gokyo peak
On this day we will hike up to Gokyo peak and reach at the altitude of 5360m. From the peak, we can witness a striking view of Mt. Everest, Makalu, etc. Then, we will walk back moving downward to reach Gokyo again. We will hike toward Dole and stay overnight at Teahouse.
Day 11: Trek down to Khumjung Village
We will move toward Khumjung village at the elevation of 3780m. Passing through Dole, we will view the beautiful scene of the high altitude flowers. Walking further, we will reach to Khumjung village, one of the villages of the Everest Region. Here we can visit the Buddhist monastery. We will stay overnight in the village.
Day 12: Trek down to Manjo
We will leave Khumjung village in the early morning. We will move through Syangboche runway where we can view some of the gorgeous scenery. We will also walk through Thame village before reaching Bhote Khola. We will cross Bhote Khola by means of a bridge. We will get to the Namche Bazaar. We will cross the large suspension bridge above the Dudh Koshi river and then reach to Manjo.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla
This is the last day of the trek. We will walk from Manjo to get to Lukla that is at the elevation of 2840m. We will walk approximately 5 hrs. After Lukla, we will celebrate the completion of the journey and stay overnight.
Day 14: Early in the Morning fly to Kathmandu
We will fly to Kathmandu early in the morning. After reaching Kathmandu, our representative will help you to reach at the airport for the departure. With this 14 days of Gokyo Trek will end.
